    Off Campus Access to Electronic Library Resources
    Faculty, staff and students of Tel Aviv University are entitled to off-campus access to the library Internet electronic resources: databases, journals, books and reprints. For instructions on an off-campus connection refer to the library homepage, Off Campus Access.

    Users of the various electronic resources are expected to comply with the copyrights of the various publishers as well as the provisions of the various agreements signed between the publishers, libraries and MALMAD (Israel Center for Digital Information Services).

    Extensive and/or systematic downloading of entire parts of a database and/or any portion of a publication's issue or volume (including by technological devices such as robots) is strictly prohibited, constitutes a violation of intellectual property rights and is in breach of license agreements.

    Library Catalog will be inaccessible on Tuesday night and once in 3 weeks on Friday night.

    Textbook Collection Update
    Once a year in May-June the textbook collection is checked and updated for the coming academic year. Updated bibliographic lists for each course should be sent to Stella Gurevich, the librarian in charge of the textbook collection, by e-mail stellag@tauex.tau.ac.il or by the university inner mail.

    Requests for new textbooks or new editions, for scanning articles for courses and for canceling items from the textbook collection should be delivered to Stella Gurevich.

    Books for the textbook collection may also be ordered via the electronic Course Reserves ordering form on the library homepage.

    Once a year announcements on new textbook editions are sent to the lecturers. New editions will be purchased only after lecturer approvals and after updating the students reading lists.
    Ordering New Books
    Faculty may order books on the library budget (subject to library budget restrictions) and on research and departmental budgets. For details on ordering books refer to Dora Getman, head of the Acquisition Department, Tel. 03-6409196. Books can also be ordered via our electronic acquisition form on the library homepage.

    The Library welcomes donations of books purchased on grants and books written or edited by faculty members.
    Reference Services
    The reference staff provides assistance in accessing the wide variety of available library resources. The librarians guide the users in locating information from library catalogs, bibliographic databases and search engines in the fields of life sciences, medicine and health professions. They answer in the library or by phone questions concerning information needs. Tel 03-6407975.

    Brief or factual reference questions can be sent via an electronic form “Ask a Librarian” on the library homepage. Replies will be sent within 2 working days.
     Information Retrieval and Alert Service
    Scientific articles and other information items are retrieved by the Yocheved & A. S. Cohen Computerized Information Unit staff, according to your needs and demands. The unit has access to many databases through local networks and by contracts with suppliers abroad. Retrospective searches and current alert services are also available.

    Interlending and Document Supply
    The Interlending and Document Supply Center provides copies of publications and loans of library materials from Israeli and overseas sources. Orders can be placed via online request forms or at the Department (room 12). Copied materials will be sent by e-mail.

    Document Scanning and CD Burning
    The computer/technical support staff provides document scanning and CD burning services to the University community, under the restrictions of copyright laws. The service is fee based.

    Burning
    Burning of MS Office files, PDF and other file formats is available. Burning fee is 10 Shekels, CD included.

    Scanning
    A self service scanner is available in room 24 on the entrance floor. Materials can be scanned to PDF format only. Scanned files can be saved on diskettes, on diskonKey or on the temporary storage drive. Self service scanning fee is 0.07 NIS per page.

    The support staff scans documents, publications, selected sections and images upon demand. The materials are saved in PDF, TIF or JPG format.

    Faculty Card in the Library
    Your faculty card serves as an entrance certificate and as a reader card. Please note: upon visiting the library and checking out library materials you will be asked to present your card.
    Virtual Course on Library Resources
    A virtual course in Hebrew on library resources is accessible via Virtual TAU. The course has several learning units: The library catalog; publication types; searching principles; database searching; journals and e-journals; the Internet.

    Username and password are required. Username for visitors: mlibrary, Password: Medicin8.
    Library Listserv
    MEDLIB-L is the library news listserv. All Life Sciences and Medicine faculty are automatically registered. If you are not on the list, you can join the list.
